Last weekend, while strolling the street of Hunter Street Mall, hubby and I stumbled into this small doughnut shop. There was quite a crowd and we thought, it must be really good. The shop itself doesn't have tables inside but outside in the streets. It would be a great place for a catch up session with your friends when the sun is out and shining.
While looking at the doughnut display, they had about 6-7 choices of flavour to choose from. One doughnut costs $4.50 but there is also a choice of 8 doughnuts for $24. Haleem and I decided we'll do one each for now.
The Boston
Haleem went with The Boston and this is his review. "It was a good doughnut but I don't think I would pay $4.50 for it again. For the chocolate topping and the cream filling, it wasn't sweet. I don't expect it to be really sweet but there was less sweetness which barely tickles the tastebud. The doughnut could also use a bit more chocolate topping. It wasn't a bad doughnut, it was good but I would not pay $4.50 for it."- Haleem
The Caramel Toast
I actually wanted to try the Salted Caramel but there must have been a miscommunication somewhere, or I might have read the label wrong, I ended up with Caramel Toast instead. This baby has burnt caramel icing with spiced toast and toffee praline. The base doughnut was great, it was light and fluffy. My teeth just sinks into it. I could taste a slight saltiness to it which I'm guessing comes from the toffee praline. The sweetness of the caramel was subtle but for me it might have been a little too subtle. I would have preferred if the flavours were kicked up a notch.
All in all, it looked like a good place to hang out. It has a nice vibe. While the doughnut itself was good, we weren't exactly mindblown with flavours for the 2 that we got. However, they have a few variety of flavours that we still have yet to try. And I really, really want to try the Salted Caramel doughnut. I'm a sucker for anything salted caramel.
