It's that time of the year when I don't know whether to be cautious and pile on the layers or whether it's ok to shed the layers. Transitional dressing is really tricky and I don't think I'll ever get it down. Especially so, if I'm trying to come up with an outfit for a trip up to Sydney. It might be warm in Newcastle but it tends to be cooler in Sydney.
The culottes/gaucho/wide-leg pants, whatever you want to call it, have been everywhere the past year. I bought this number last year and I haven't worn it since. I find it difficult to style. Mostly due to the formal style that it has and it could also be the awkward length.
I tried out a couple of outfits before I settled on this and I'd like to think that it is a good attempt at transitional dressing. The sweatshirt kept me warm and cozy yet the culottes made it light and airy. Pairing the culottes with the sweatshirt also helps to dress it down a bit while the same colour palette gave the illusion of a longer silhouette.
Basically, I managed to overcome 2 hurdles in this 1 outfit. The transitional dressing and styling this pair culottes.
